24H Emergency Services
: You can use household items to free the shower and tub drains and kitchen drains.

It is very common to experience drains around the house. Food is probably responsible for most of the blocks in the kitchen. Fortunately, launching garbage disposal will eliminate the problem almost immediately. But in the shower, it's a different story. More likely than not, the hair that sometimes happens while bathing is the main culprit. And since there's no garbage disposal in the shower, it might be time to get a little more creative in figuring out how to unblock these drains.

Don't worry, you don't need to rush out to the store to buy some downloadable products. Instead, you can find all the materials you need around the house to successfully unblock most shower drains. Here are a few different ways to do this:

BOILING WATER

Emergency Plumber Services: This is probably the easiest way to unblock a bathtub or shower drain. Just boil the water and slowly pour it down the drain. With any luck, you won't need any additional supplies or steps and have a clear escape again.

CLOTHES HANGERS

Go get a hanger from the closet. Form one end into a small hook. Dip it in the shower to grab the grown hair and pull it out. Depending on how long it has been since it was last done, you can remove the drain itself so you can easily get the coat hook all the way down to unclog the shower drain.

MIX SODIUM BICARBONATE AND VINEGAR (OR SALT)

You can do this in two different ways, but both require equal parts of baking soda and vinegar or salt (1/2 cup each). The first method is to mix the baking soda and vinegar before pouring it down the drain. You will notice a chemical reaction that occurs in the presence of bubbling or fizzing when the two substances mix. If you prefer, you can pour the baking soda down the drain first, followed by the vinegar (or the salt followed by the boiling water). The blend is a great way to remove dirt, grease, and hair that has built up. Make sure you run hot water through the shower drain before showering again, especially if you're using vinegar.

DISHWASHING LIQUID

If the drain is still clogged, try using a thicker lubricant to loosen any accumulated hair that has built up to block the drain. Pour 1/4 cup of dish soap down the drain, followed by boiling water. The thick dish soap should loosen the hair from the drain side and the water will rinse the rest of the unwanted part, clearing the shower drain.
